Crafting and Communication the WHY

Xcenter is organising a lecture and a workshop on the topic of communication of cultural projects with the renowned expert in interactive environment Jana Wilcoxen.

Every project has its purpose, its why. But how can you communicate this purpose in a way that will attract the attention of your audience? Simply stating what, when and where is not going to do it. In a complex, various programme such as GO! 2025, or any other environment with a rich and diverse cultural offer, standing out is an enormous challenge.

16:00: Part I (1 h) – Introduction to the workshop and its concept

The introduction to the workshop and its concept will offer an opportunity to think about writing and communicating from a fresh perspective, challenging us to find a new point of view emphasizing the art of design and communication of messages.

17:10: Part II (2 h) – Interactive workshop

This practical workshop under the guidance of Jana Wilcoxen will sharpen your communication skills and prepare you for facing challenges. You will map and define the basic characteristics of your project and align them with your audience’s needs. This is how you will ensure that your message will truly shine. Practical exercises will deepen your storytelling skills and the usage of metaphors, thus creating and inspiring communication that will make your project seen and attractive.

The workshop is designed for representatives of institutions, organisations and individuals implementing and planning events and projects in the field of culture.

Mentor Jana Wilcoxen has more than three decades of experience in culture in different roles, contexts and countries. Since moving from Seattle to Ljubljana in 2000, she has worked with various Slovene public and non-governmental organisations on numerous European projects, particularly in their development and design. She is also a long-time collaborator with Motovila and frequently lectures and speaks at the events organised by this organisation as part of the Creative Europe Centre in Slovenia.
