Taktilna galerija: Umetnost onkraj vidnega

The first tactile gallery in Slovenia, where visitors discover art through touch, opens on 21 March in the Mercator Centre in Kromberk.

An exhibition where touching is allowed? That’s exactly what The Art Beyond the Visible, the first tactile gallery in Slovene, is. The first part showcases examples of good practices from Slovenia and abroad, while the second is a contribution to accessibility. It’s an experiment – a dialogue between artists and users. Through group and individual sessions, artists explored the world of blindness and visual impairment, adapting their artworks to be experienced through touch. Art isn’t just for the chosen few – it can be for everyone.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, 21 March at 17:00. Opening addresses will be given by:

  • Vladimir Peruničič, Director of the Nova Gorica Regional Museum,
  • Igor Miljavec, President of the IYSS Nova Gorica,
  • Mija Lorbek, Director of GO! 2025,
  • David Kožuh, Project Manager,
  • The keynote speaker will be the Minister of Culture, Asta Večko.

The performers will be singer Zara Smrtnik, dancer Jana Führer and flautist Mila Vučko, who, despite their blindness, fulfilled their artistic dreams.
