Crossings—Light Installation and Virtual Reality

Enter the virtual world of Nova Gorica & Gorizia and discover the unprecedented dimensions of the urban agglomeration. 

Between 1 and 4 May 2025, between 19:00 and 23:00, the Crossings immersive multimedia project will take place in Bevk Square in Nova Gorica, organised by the BridA collective/Tom Kerševan, Sendi Mango, Jurij Pavlica.

Crossings is a new immersive multimedia project by the BridA collective, a true genius loci and homage to the conurbation—with said conurbation, the project shapes the celebration of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorica. The project is situated in the public space of the city with a direct reference to its architecture, the physical and the deeper one, built by different relationships, interactions among residents, crossings of their streets, passages, communication—an interweaving of social ties that creates a new social fabric. These two levels of architecture also resonate in the two dimensions of the Crossings project: with a work as an object, which layers the rich history and present of the city in the middle of Bevk Square, and in the ephemeral virtual reality, which expands the vision of the city in space and time towards the field of the possible and the potential. Constitutively defined by the border, the two cities emerge as one in the BridA collective's project, just as they live and operate every day in the eyes of their citizens. And just as Nova Gorica has emerged to shine across the border, the Crossings project shines as the symbol of overcoming all borders, particularly the most rigid ones in our minds.

The project Crossings included in The March for Europe, which is part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia as the second of four large-scale cultural-tourism events under the Stop the City! name.

Organised by GO! 2025 in collaboration with the City Municipality of Nova Gorica, the Municipality of Gorizia, the Nova Gorica Public Institute for Sport, the Regional Chamber of Craft and Small Business Nova Gorica, the EGTC GO, the Nova Gorica and Vipava Valley Tourist Board, and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia – Nova Gorica branch.
