Inferno + Borderless Body

Visitors to the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia will have the chance to experience a dance-robotic performance unlike anything seen before in the region on 10 May, at 20.30. This is set to be one of the most spectacular events of this year’s ECoC program, organized in collaboration with MN Dance Company and Zavod Kersnikova, as part of the Borderless Body project, and featuring two international artists in the field of robotics. In the performance, dancers—and later selected participants equipped with robotic exoskeletons—will perform a synchronized dance as human marionettes, resembling cyborgs.

The dance spectacle is inspired by various interpretations of the levels of hell from Dante’s Divine Comedy, the Ten Courts of Hell from the famous Singaporean theme park Haw Par Villa, and other religious conceptions. The creators use the concept of "circles of hell" as a thematic framework for a modern metaphor of horror, in which the fusion of human and machine becomes a symbol of punishment for technological sins committed in the name of progress.

Participation in the performance requires prior registration via email at go2025@go2025.eu no later than Thursday, 8 May.
