The opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture is behind us, which means that the cultural year in Nova Gorica and Gorizia is just getting started. While you can see the highlights of the artistic spectacle on 8 February 2025 below, you can read about the main events of the coming month in this post.
The Distant Gaze symposium on 5 and 6 March will focus on art from the beginning of the 20th century, and highlights include a conversation with writer Miljenko Jergović. On 21 March, the first tactile gallery in Slovenia will open in the capital, dedicated to everyone, but especially to vulnerable groups such as the blind and visually impaired; Art Beyond the Visual allows you to experience art through touch. From 26 March, another important exhibition will be on show - welcome to the Doblar Museum, a lasting reminder of the importance of energy and electrification in western Slovenia.
On 11 March, the International CEE Conference of Animation Industry Representatives kicks off, and on 20 and 21 March, the Trieste Film Festival moves to Gorizia. The frontiers of fashion will be explored in the daring Fashionlands project, which will be on show from 27 March, while the EPISKOP series of lectures and discussions and the theatrical dodecalogy of director Tomi Janežič will continue. In other February news, our project associate Nadja Velušček was awarded the France Štiglic Lifetime Achievement Award, the construction of a new cross-border basketball court under the patronage of Goran Dragić and Luigi Datome was announced, and from the opening ceremony onwards it is possible to buy European Capital of Culture souvenirs in our Communication Office.
