Tomi Činej, better known by his stage name TomyFly, is one of Slovenia’s most prominent breakdancers, choreographers and dance teachers.
He has won numerous awards and inspired many young dancers with his exceptional talent and creativity. Originally from Vrtojba, Činej showed a passion for dance from an early age, starting his dance career with urban dance genres, of which breakdance has become his greatest love.
He has won more than 25 awards at national and international competitions and has twice been awarded the title of Dance Soloist of the Year by the Slovenian Dance Association, has worked on music videos with popular music groups such as Foxy Teens and the duo Clea & Kim, and his Go-breakers dance group has gained worldwide recognition and won numerous international titles.
This year, breakdancing makes its historic debut as an Olympic sport. Together with the b-boy Tchantch and the MN Dance Company, Tomi Činej will showcase his exceptional talents, combining contemporary and street dance styles in an unforgettable performance on 8 August 2024 at the Slovenia House in Paris. Their art highlights not only the athleticism of breakdance, but also its cultural significance. Činej will perform at this event because his work and achievements are perfectly in line with the values of the European Capital of Culture, which promotes cultural diversity, creativity and innovation.
Through his commitment, talent and passion for dance, Tomi Činej has become a role model for many young dancers and a key figure in the Slovenian dance community. With his work and vision, he continues to make a significant contribution to the development and visibility of breakdance and other urban dance genres in Slovenia and beyond.
