Works started at the future recreation area in Vrtojba.
Works visibly started at the future recreation area in Vrtojba. The works, which are expected to be completed by September 2019, comprise a 1,255 square metre parking space for campervans with all the needed services and utilities.
This constitutes the first lot of works within the European project Isonzo-Soča, financed from the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 Programme.
The aim of the project is to build a cross-border network of cycling and walking paths along the Isonzo/Soča river and at the border between the two countries, connecting the territories of the municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba from Solkan to Šempeter-Vrtojba. Extensive infrastructure, offering better access to the area and increasing its attractiveness for local residents and tourists, will be built by 2021.
