Eyes on the Screen, Mind on the Vision : the 2025 Cross-Border Film Festival Tribute to a Vision

Get ready for a unique cinematic experience: from 7 to 12 October, you are invited to the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision!

The festival will once again unite Slovenia and Italy, this year in a particularly celebratory manner within the context of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia.

The festival hosts visionaries, critical thinkers, and creators who see film as a tool for understanding society. With the support of the region's key film institutions, we are creating a space for creativity, dialogue, and shared visions of the future. At the heart of the festival is a retrospective dedicated to the award-winner Darko Bratina, who highlights the power of the author's gaze through his body of work. The Cinematheque’s Gaze section explores the history of cinema and brings it closer to the contemporary audience. The visionaries present innovative European film works, while the Excursion section showcases short films from the selected country. A special focus is given to the First Flights platform, which highlights short films of all genres.

The competitive programme brings top-notch short films from around the world, while also offering workshops, meetings, and networking opportunities for young filmmakers. The call for entries will open in spring on the FilmFreeway platform. Throughout the year, the festival travels with the Festival Caravan, bringing film stories to other locations in collaboration with the Travelling Kino Soča-Isonzo Cinema, the Silvan Furlan Open-Air Cinema, and partner film festivals.
