Slovene Film Series in Italy

Laughter to start a new year of Slovene Film Series in Italy.

In 2025, the Gorizia film landscape will be richer for the unique film series that the House of Cinema has been consistently creating for the last few years. Thanks to numerous screenings, the series will turn the House of Film into a regular cinema, with Slovene films available to Italian audience with the help of Italian subtitles. Focusing on current and restored Slovenian film productions, the rich programme will thus once again appeal to audiences on both sides of the border. The screenings will provide insightful glimpses into the diversity of genres and authors' expressions, while inviting the filmmakers and production teams who have contributed to the creation of the selected works as guests.

The series, which is part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, strengthens the tradition of in-depth cultural networking in the cross-border area. The first film screening this season will take place on 9 January, at 20:00, when we will open with the comedy entitled To je rop! (This is heist!) On the evening of Italian premiere, film director Gregor Andolšek will reveal the background of the making of this humorous and dynamic story.

Rajko, a professional magician, accidentally breaks his arm during a performance. But there is no end to his troubles - the Tangenta insurance company refuses to pay his insurance claim because of a bureaucratic error. Outraged by this injustice, Rajko is supported by his insurance agent Marcel, who arranges a meeting with the insurance company's director. The situation escalates when Marcel, in a moment of desperation, kidnaps the director, triggering a series of chaotic and amusing events on their escape route together.
