Festival GO Dance: Eleonora Abbagnato and the stars of the theate Opera di Roma

Eleonora Abbagnato, Director of the Corps de Ballet and School of Dance of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and danseuse Étoile of the Ballet de l'Opéra National de Paris, is one of the most important Italian figures on the international dance scene. For the first time, the artist will perform in Gorizia, on the occasion of the final evening of the Go-Dance event, on 4 May at the Teatro Verdi, interpreting the famous Pas de Deux from the ballet Le Parc by maestro A. Preljocaj, to music by W.A. Mozart. At her side, in this exclusive performance, the talented Julian Mackay, Principal Dancer of the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich.

The date with ‘Eleonora Abbagnato and the stars of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma’ is set for 9 p.m. on 4 May at the Teatro Verdi. It is an evening of ballet of great charm, drawing inspiration from the deep roots of classical and contemporary dance. The event, conceived by Piero Martelletta in collaboration with Eleonora Abbagnato and produced by Ferdinando Prandi de Ulmhort for ‘Go-Dance’ and the city of Gorizia, promises a journey through the best of the choreographic repertoire.

The audience will have the opportunity to witness extraordinary performances by Eleonora Abbagnato, Julian Mackay, and some of the Principal Dancers of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, including Alessio Rezza, Michele Satriano, Marianna Suriano, Giacomo Castellana, and Giovanna Pisani. The programme will range from the great ballet classics such as M. Petipà's Swan Lake and A. Bournonville's Danish School with Infiorata a Genzano, through M. Fokine's iconic Death of the Swan, to more recent masterpieces such as Proust and Rose Malade by R. Petit, Cuban Nutcracker by A. Hazanov, and Stabat Mater by E. Abbagnato/B. Pech. The evening will end with an extract from the ballet Le Parc by A. Preljocaj, with the participation of three other dancers from the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma: Massimiliano Rizzo, Antonello Mastrangelo and Giovanni Castelli. The event will be directed by Piero Martelletta.

In addition, Eleonora Abbagnato will also be present in Gorizia as maitre, holding an exclusive masterclass on the morning of 4 May, dedicated to the older students of Go-Dance 2025. The lesson will be held in the historical halls of the Unione Ginnastica Goriziana.

From Tuesday 22 April 2025 it will be possible to buy tickets for the performance at a cost of €5.00 both online on the Vivaticket website and at the G. Verdi Theatre ticket office in Gorizia.
