Smuggling Tour

From February 2025 onwards, conurbation will offer a Smuggling Tour tourist experience.

The Smuggling Tour is an immersive journey into the times of all kinds of smuggling across the border. It takes place along the route from Europe Square to the Smuggling Museum in Pristava, crossing the border multiple times. Participants take on the role of smugglers, trying to "sneak" various goods to the other side. Will you manage to outsmart the customs officer?

The history of smuggling in the Goriška border area inspired the creation of a unique experience – the Smuggling Tour. The tour refers to the period after the Second World War, when people tried to slightly improve their standard of living by smuggling goods across the border from Italy to Yugoslavia and vice versa. From February 2025, the Nova Gorica-Gorica conurbation offers visitors the opportunity to put themselves in the role of smugglers through interactive guidance. Participants on the way between Europe Square and Pristava test their "smuggling" skills through various challenges. In preparing the tour, the Public Tourist Institute of Nova Gorica and the Vipava Valley collaborated with Goriški Muzej, as the experience also includes a visit to the smuggling museum in Pristava. Experienced tour guides conduct in Slovenian, Italian and English. Tours last approximately two hours.
