The artistic duo, hosted by the BridA group this past weekend at the R.o.R residency programme in Šempas near Nova Gorica, belongs to the Lightspray Visual Hungarian collective. Their projections impressed the many visitors who came to the old school in Šempas on Saturday evening. “The images we projected on the facade of the old school in Šempas were made for a festival in Finland and Poland. Next time we come, we will project images from your environment, from Gorizia and Nova Gorica. We have already seen a lot of places in these two days, we like Slovenia a lot and we are looking forward to getting to know the Nova Gorica/Gorizia area and to create here.”
The artists of the Lightspray Visual (Fényszóró Visual) Hungarian collective have been creating works using analogue light for more than 15 years. They use old graphoscopes with powerful light bulbs to project colour images onto building and monument surfaces. They breathe life into the images using special devices they’ve created themselves, which can be mounted on a graphoscope to achieve an effect reminiscent of large-scale kinetic sculptures. This not only creates an interesting projection, but also makes the projector itself an interesting element of the installation.
Their work is strongly influenced by contemporary street art, steampunk and science fiction, with their greatest strength being their ability to incorporate any subject depending on the location and theme of the festivals. They have presented their creative works at numerous festivals in recent years, such as Nobel Week Lights in Sweden, Prisma in Portugal, Essen Light Fest in Germany, and Lumiart in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
