Traditional ECoC Family Meeting is coming to Nova Gorica and Gorizia
From 9 to 12 October, Nova Gorica and Gorica will host the traditional gathering of the "European Capital of Culture Family", ECoC Family Meeting in collaboration with Chemnitz, Germany, also a European Capital of Culture 2025. Chemnitz mayor, Sven Schulze, will also be arriving to Nova Gorica and Gorizia, and meet with our mayors, Samo Turel and Rodolfo Ziberna. The meeting will welcome over 90 international guests from 28 past, present, and future European Capitals of Culture. In addition to the presentation of programmes for 2025, we will be showcasing our region’s historical, geopolitical, cultural, natural, and culinary treasures to demonstrate why the concept of borderlessness is so vital to us.
The meeting is mostly meant for work purposes and will be closed to the public. ECoC representatives will share their experiences and advice, with a special emphasis on future challenges and opportunities, as next year marks the 40th anniversary of the ECoC project. A presentation of the research on the impact that European Capital of Culture title has on the development of the city and its cultural scenes will also be featured during the event. Moreover, the Slovenian and German capitals will have the opportunity to present the key points of their programmes. Participants will learn about GECT GO and the municipalities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia, as well as explore several key venues and programme partners of the ECoC 2025, such as the EPIC project, Piccolo Opera Festival at Spessa Castle, Rafut Park in Nova Gorica, Darko Bratina Castle, Vila Vipolže in Brda, Borgo Cinema in Gorizia, as well as locations and projects in Tolmin and Kobarid.
In the spirit of borderlessness, we also invite you to a borderless party on Friday, 11 October at 21:00 at Mostovna in Solkan, as part of the ECoC family meeting. The Slovene-Croatian duo freekind. and the Lithuanian DJ Moteris will be performing. Entry is free!
