Charcoal Pile Lighting Ceremony with a Message of Peace

Charcoal Pile Lighting Ceremony with a Message of Peace

On 10 May, a charcoal pile lighting ceremony with a rich cultural programme will take place in Lokovec.

The lighting of the charcoal pile will take place the day after Europe Day and will carry a message of peace. Guests from different European countries and from different parts of Slovenia will bring charcoal to light on a common fireplace, which will be used to light a pile with a message of peace.

An organised hike to the mound at 14:30 (15 minutes long, some guests will go by organised transport) will be followed by a cultural programme with solemn speeches and the lighting of the charcoal pile. We will then return to the main event area where there will be an accompanying cultural programme with a concert of traditional Slovene music, a rich culinary offer and local craft stands. The Technical Heritage Centre will host an exhibition by Sebastjan Peršolja, a blacksmith museum will be opened and works by artists from the Green Bridge art colony will be presented.
