Tales of Two Cities, the New Border and Migration Decisions

Discussion and presentation of the book on the origins of Nova Gorica.
A book on the origins of Nova Gorica will be presented in the context of the border set up in 1947, which divided the area for the very first time. There were linguistic, cultural, religious and ethnic borders, but there was never a political border that would physically divide the area and its people. The discussion will address both aspects of post-war migration—the recently created border along the Iron Curtain and the newly built "Town in the Meadow".
Participants: Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik (ZRC SAZU), Katja Jerman (author of Two Gorizias – One Town: The Construction of the Urban), Anja Medved (co-author of the documentaries My Border and Town in the Meadow).
The event is part of the EPISKOP project, which is part of GO! 2025 official programme.
