Episkop provides a vision and understanding of the (non)everyday life of Goriška region beyond the immediate field of vision, from behind corners and obstacles, in a way that only the humanities can. Through a series of round tables, lectures, book and film presentations, an accompanying four-language publication, and a featured artwork of the month, Episcope will explore different pasts, reflect on the multiplicity of the present, and, in dialogue with the audience, build possible futures of the palimpsest of (Nova) Gorica.
We invite you on a twelve-month journey guided by the twelve themes of Episcope: languages, traditions, heritage, book production, wars and efforts for coexistence, shifting borders, building of a new city, past and present migrations, green and modernist cities, isolation, alternative and European pasts and futures.
