This Tuesday, 22 October, we hosted a press conference announcing the eventful year of ECoC.
Nova Gorica and Gorizia are already hosting numerous events. So far, over 40 have taken place in the area, with many more to come until the end of the year. We are presenting the highlights of the next year with approximately 400 events from the official programme and as many from accompanying programmes. We will be able to enjoy a variety of festivals, gastronomical and sport events, concerts, shows, exhibitions and other events, suitable for both the general public and more discerning art enthusiasts. This first Guide to the Official Programme marks the start of four seasonal programme guides for 2025. A more detailed programme will be presented on 26 November in Bruxelles.
The highlights are GO! 2025 Opening on 8 February featuring a cross-border spectacle marking the beginning of the first cross-border ECoC Nova Gorica - Gorica, March for Europe (1.–9. May 2025), that will transform the once difficult border-crossing into art, Tastes without Borders Festival (26.–28. September 2025), when the biggest gastronomical event in the region will be extended to both sides of the border for the first time, and the Enlightened Closing Ceremony (1.–5. December 2025) concluding the ECoC and spark a new collaboration in the form of a shared festive lighting.
European Capital of Culture is a European Union project. The goal of the ECoC GO! 2025 is to cross borders, both physical and psychological, as reflected in the slogan "GO! Borderless". The project’s focus is on connecting Nova Gorica and Gorizia, cities with different historical and cultural backgrounds, aiming to strengthen collaboration between them and promote cross-border lifestyle and management.
On this occasion, we would like to invite all, Slovenians, Italians, foreigners and tourists, people of all ages and tastes, to experience the rich programme of our ECoC, with something for everyone. Join us and help us shape the ECoC story! GO! Borderless!
