A cross-border event connecting the Day of Amateur Culture and the Tastes without Borders project.
This Saturday, August 31, an event entitled Man is a Borderless Sun took place at Bevk Square in Nova Gorica. The event united the Day of Amateur Culture and the Tastes without Border project in a new, collaborative story. The organisers of the project, the GO! 2025 project, the Association of Cultural Societies of Nova Gorica, the Regional Chamber of Crafts and Small Businesses of Nova Gorica, the Nova Gorica and Vipava Valley Tourism Institute, the Municipality of Nova Gorica and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia, offered a wide range of workshops on the theme of the upcoming European Capital of Culture title. It is worth mentioning that this was the first event of its kind in the area, which successfully engaged the community in the creation of this new, collaborative story.
The first and certainly not last edition of the project offered a full-day borderless festival of excellent catering and amateur culture performances with as many as 500 performers. The cultural part of the event featured dance, painting, folklore and twirling groups, as well as a special reading performance with music. In the afternoon, numerous choirs performed separately and in a joint performance accompanied by the Nova Gorica Brass Band. Afterwards, the Brass Band held a solo concert entitled The Show Must Go On with the music by the rock band Queen. The gastronomical part of the event started in the late afternoon. Numerous caterers from both sides of the border spoilt the crowd with a wide variety of specialities.
The event proved to be a great success, and we are eagerly looking forward to its next edition. We are honoured and proud to have been a part of this story.
