Pixxelpoint festival presents a podcast series entitled The Future Behind Us.
As a part of the Pixxelpoint festival, the organisers have produced a series of ten podcasts entitled The Future Behind Us, featuring discussions with established artists. The first podcast was released on 6 September, while the last, tenth, will be available from 8 November.
The podcast series will explore the lessons drawn from past artistic experiments with technology, nowadays considered provocative, controversial or groundbreaking. Artists will delve into the past to explore its impact on the future.
Artists have always been using scientific and technological innovations to improve creative tools, conduct radical experiments and criticize ethical motifs and sociopolitical implications of innovation. Just like the technologies they used and investigated, many artworks have been quickly replaced by new ones.
By exploring how innovations have evolved, artists will explore whether their past works and insights are still relevant. They will try to realise whether they were naïve or visionary in their interpretations of technoscientific progress and whether their fear was (un)justified. They will share anecdotes and challenges they faces and explain the impact such projects had on their careers.
The podcast will be hosted by Régine Debatty, a curator, blogger and art critic, who will talk to Trevor Paglen, Nora Al-Badri, UBERMORGEN, Jill Magid, Paolo Pedercini from Molleindustria, Evan Roth, !Mediengruppe Bitnik, Sanela Jahić, Pinar Yoldas and Maja Smrekar.
This year's edition of the festival is co-organised by Kulturni dom Nova Gorica and Aksioma - Institute for Contemporary Art Ljubljana in the framework of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia
