Next autumn Gorizia and Nova Gorica will host the twenty-fifth national convention ‘Incontri del cinema d'essai’ (Meetings of arthouse cinema), this time with a focus on the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and GO! 2025. The event is organised by the Palazzo del Cinema - Hiša Filma Association and the Italian Federation of Art Cinema.
Now in its 25th edition, the Incontri del Cinema d'Essai is a unique appointment for the industry and cinema-goers from all over Italy, an occasion for the actors of the cinema industry to meet: producers, distributors, exhibitors, authors, journalists and festival organisers. Giuseppe Longo, President of the Palazzo del Cinema - Hiša Filma Association, expresses his pride in hosting the initiative: ‘The Palazzo del Cinema has grown exponentially in recent years, with its countless initiatives linked to the world of audiovisuals: from the quality cinema programmed at Kinemax to the Sergio Amidei Award, from the Darko Bratina Award to archival research and production. It is a source of pride for us to host an initiative of national and international relevance such as the Days of Art Cinema Meetings'.
In this context, awards will be presented to the outstanding artists of Italian cinema who took part in the best national productions of the last season. The trophy awarded will change shape, adapting to the host city: it will go from a design object depicting the perimeter of the city walls of Lucca with a beam of light shining out - symbolising the film projection - to a representation of Gorizian lace. Today's press conference, held at the Mediateca Ugo Casiraghi, saw the temporary handover of the baton from the mayor of Lucca (which hosted the 2024 Meetings, to welcome them again in 2026 and 2027) Mario Pardini to the mayors of Gorizia and Nova Gorica Rodolfo Ziberna and Samo Turel.
The press conference was also attended by the President of FICE - Federazione Italiana Cinema d'Essai, Giuliana Fantoni; the Director of EGTC GO Romina Kocina; Programme Director of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 Stojan Pelko; the General Director of ANEC - National Association of Cinema Exhibitors and President of Cinetel (a company collecting box office data of the national cinema market) Simone Gialdini; the Coordinator of the Cinema D'essai Days and member of the Superior Council of Audiovisual at Mic Mario Mazzetti; the President of Agis Triveneto - Italian General Association of Entertainment Franco Oss Noser.
