Barraonda will carry the official flag of the Nova Gorica - Gorizia, European Capital of Culture 2025 Already a testimonial for the European Capital of Culture bid during the 2020 Barcolana, this year Barraonda returns to the sea under the official flag of the Capital. Barraonda is a 40-foot top racer boat led by a team, mostly from Gorizia, captained by Lucio Provvidenti, carries Slovenian sailmakers and belongs to the Monfalcone sailing club. Main sponsors include Confartigianato FVG and other local companies, also cross-border ones. The boat's connection to the territory and the two cities is natural so much so that for years already it has carried high in the Gulf and in Barcolana the flags of the twin municipalities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia. So, at the Barcolana 2022, Barraonda will also represent the twin cities and fly the official flag with the new logo of the European Capital of Culture 2025. The flag was handed over to Provvidenti on Monday, 3 October, on Europe Square in the presence of the Director of the GO!2025 Public Institute, the Director of the EGTC GO, the Vice-Mayor of Nova Gorica and the Mayor of Gorizia. The crew, led by Lucio Provvidenti, assures that they will do their utmost to proudly represent the colours of the European Capital of Culture 2025.
