Hungary's current European Capital of Culture, Veszprém-Balaton 2023, hosts cities from all over the world: 29 invited cities were given the opportunity to present their culture for a fortnight this year, in a series of events called InterUrban. Nova Gorica and Gorizia, which received this honour in June, presented themselves with the dance performance Borderless Triptych by MN Dance Company, the musician Paolo Forte, the music ensemble Širom, the audiovisual ensemble Etceteral, the film Town in a Meadow by Anja Medved and the performance Xmobil. At the same time, a "half-time" celebration took place there this weekend, with GO! 2025 representatives. The mid-term meeting of the capitals has become a tradition for the European Capitals of Culture and is a review of the first six months of the European Capital of Culture. To this end, a five-day mini-festival was organised in Veszprém with concerts, sporting events, exhibitions, a storytelling festival, a roller disco and an opportunity for participants to share valuable experiences. The hosts showed them what they had newly built and renovated in recent months. Interesting investments included the construction of a large concert venue, where the world-famous band Morcheeba performed just last weekend, and a one-and-a-half-kilometre looooong table where participants, organisers and hosts sat for networking.
