WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE? The European Capital of Culture (ECOC) is a project from European Commission that has been running since 1985. In 2025, Nova Gorica and Gorizia will hold the title. It has been awarded to them through the joint cross-border Capital of Culture project GO! 2025, the winning theme of which is GO! Borderless. In addition to GO! 2025, the German city of Chemnitz will also hold the ECoC title. WHICH PROGRAMMES ARE COVERED BY THE GO! 2025? The project consists of the following pillars: GO! SHARE, GO! GREEN, GO! EUROPE and the ECoC District. The pillars cover the programmes through which we are striving to revitalise urban space, involve all human resources, learn and get to know the culture, heritage and knowledge to promote cultural production that knows no borders and is linked to the core values of the European culture. An attractive, forward-looking, sustainable programme has been designed, upgrading the region's specificities and assets and building on them to make the European Capital of Culture project an excellent one. There are several ways of participation: 1) Become part of the official programme from the Bid-book Take a look at the BID-BOOK, which presents the official programme for 2025. Find out if you like any of the projects and would like to co-create it.
