WOOD & STONE International Art Residency took place from 11th September to 16th September in Lokve. It was organized by the tourism, culture & sports association Lo-Ko Lokve under the auspices of the Art Circle Slovenia project. It was co-financed by our public institution GO! 2025. Artists were invited to the heart of the Trnovo Forest to create new images, shapes, sculptures, as formed by our space and our time, out of wood and stone – the most important building block of living culture in this area. The WOOD & STONE international sculptural art residency was designed in cooperation with curators, artists and organizers of cultural content who are active in the area of Gorizia and actively connect in their fields across borders. For this residency, the tourism, culture & sports association Lo-Ko Lokve has connected with the organizational team of the Art Circle, international visual arts festival. The organizers shared some insight about the event: »Our wish is to design a permanent forma viva in Lokve – setting up of sculptural works by contemporary artists in the open air, which will be available to the public for many years to come. In the heart of the Trnovo Forest, we created a space for an international artistic residency focused on contemporary sculpture. Selector Jorg van Daele invited the artists to participate, and in less than a week, six academically educated sculptors from Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Cuba took part in creation. We are delighted that they will enrich our space with their works of art." Come and see the artworks!
