Walter Mramor: Visavì Stages

Walter Mramor is a director, actor, artistic director and producer. He is the founder and artistic director of Artisti Associati: the theatre and dance circle of Friuli Venezia Giulia, and has been artistic director of the theatres in Cormons, Gradisca d'Isonzo, and from 2002 to 2014 artistic director of the Verdi Municipal Theatre in Gorizia, as well as selector of the dance sector of the Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli.   He has acted on theatre stages and in films, including Fellini's Ginger and Fred (1986) and Interview (1987). He also starred in the film version of Pasolini's Calderón, which won the Best Film Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain. In 1987, he founded the Artisti Associati organisation, whose major productions have included Moliere's creations, and in 2004 he was awarded the prestigious Gassman Award as a producer for his production of Pirandello's Tutto per bene.   He has established important cross-border relations with theatres in Nova Gorica, Maribor, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Rijeka. And these days, through the Visavì Festival, it is realising a cross-border cooperation with the SNG Nova Gorica. This year's festival, which is part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, will feature 18 performances and many events. Visavì will kick off on Wednesday 11 October at the Lojze Bratuž Cultural Centre with the children's performance The House for Pandas, performed by the Tuscan group TPO. In Nova Gorica, the premiere of the dance performance Distance by MN Dance Company from Nova Gorica will follow. On Thursday 12 October, the Cultural Centre in Gorizia will host the performance Un discreto protagonista. The world premiere of Roberta Zappalà's Cultus will take place in Verdi. On Friday 13 October, Nova Gorica will host Girls & Boys by the Maltese group ŻfinMalta, while Verdi will stage the Slovenian-Croatian production Gran Bolero. In Cormons, the afternoon will see performances of Coreofonie and Gli Anni. On Saturday 14 October, Gradisca d'Isonzo will host the pre-premiere of a new work by Liam Francis by Slovenian dancer Mala Kline, while Verdi will present Me (Who I am) by the Israeli company Kibbutz. On Sunday 15 October, the Gorizia Cultural Centre will host a children's performance Il piccolo re dei fiori. The festival will end in Nova Gorica with the Visavì experimental competition.
