We are less than a hundred days away from the official launch of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, perhaps the most challenging in the eight years of planning and preparation, but at the same time certainly good and inspiring, as the results of the work we have put in can already be seen at every step. Work is well underway, both cities are busily preparing to host many culture and art lovers from home and abroad, venues are being upgraded and it is time to present the official programme of this exceptional project at national level.
The official programme was welcomed by the Minister of Culture, Dr Asta Vrečko, and presented by Mija Lorbek, Director of GO! 2025, Stojan Pelko, Head of Programme of GO! 2025, and Neda Rusjan Bric, Artistic Adviser of GO! 2025 and director of the opening ceremony, in the atrium of the ZRC SAZU in Ljubljana. The presentation was also attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel, and the Gorizia Municipality Commissioner, Patrizia Artico.
"Today we are facing a solemn and important moment when we present the official programme of the European Capital of Culture to the entire Slovenian public. This is an important day for our country and an important moment in the journey of the European Capital of Culture of Nova Gorica and Gorizia," said Minister Asta Vrečko.
