Donatella Ruttar, an architect from Benečija/Slavia Veneta

Based on architecture
Donatella Ruttar, an architect from Benečija/Slavia Veneta, contributed to the co-creation of the Stazione di Topolò/Postaja Topolove event and the design of the Slovenian museum SMO in San Pietro al Natisone. A few days ago, she received an award on the occasion of the museum’s 10th anniversary and will also participate in the Nova Gorica - Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 programme.   For more than twenty years, she has been involved in shaping the programme of the Stazione di Topolò/Postaja Topolove event, summer after summer, turning this remote village into a point of reference for artistic creation and creating a community with satellites all over the world. A step forward in the appreciation of the landscape, people and Slovenian culture at this westernmost edge was the establishment of the SMO Landscape and narrative museum, where Ruttar conceived a thematic museum in a unique, modern and innovative way, based not on the collection of objects, but on the narrative of words, sound and images. Through art installations, visitors learn about the cultural landscape, i.e., the history and present of the Udine, Gorizia and Trieste area historically inhabited by Slovenians.   "The jury appreciates and shares the vision that inspired the creation of the museum, recognising the value of a cultural project whose results have been consolidated over almost ten years of experience and activity. The project interprets and promotes the specificities and values of the community in a perspective in which language and landscape become key to the interpretation of the territory," was written about the Special mention of the "Giulio Andreolli - Fare paesaggio" landscape award, which Ruttar received a few days ago.
