Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the European Commission, and Danilo Türk, former President of the Republic of Slovenia and diplomat at the United Nations, will meet in Gorica tomorrow at 18:00. The main topic of the conversation, organised by the University of Trieste's headquarters in Gorizia, will be Gorica and Nova Gorica, as part of the "Coffee with a Touch of Science" programme. They will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the European model of society, which embraces diversity and is in many ways the opposite of other models that tend towards standardisation. In the light of the upcoming European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, they will also address the question of how to reconcile the need to preserve and strengthen regional cultural diversity with the construction of a new European identity, and what the dialogue of understanding of the past, present and future of the European Union should look like. The moderator of the evening, which will take place at the University of Trieste in Gorizia (18 Alviano Street), will be journalist Eva Ciuk. The meeting will be accompanied by a theatrical and musical contribution organised by Bonawentura/TeatroMiela from Trieste, with a performance by the cross-border accordion quartet 4 Bellows 4 Tales. Italian-Slovenian interpretation will be provided to promote cooperation and interaction.
