One of the most ambitious and highly anticipated projects of the ECoC is about to begin.
Acclaimed Slovenian director Tomi Janežič is creating the Dodecalogy 1972–1983 exclusively for us—a year-long theatrical journey comprising twelve performances, one for each month of the year.
Starting on 10 January 2025, the first performance, 1972, will be staged for a single audience member at a time, following a unique schedule. Tickets are available at the SNG Nova Gorica theatre box office. On the same day, at 18:00, join us at the Xcenter for a talk with Tomi Janežič and the presentation of the book Kot bi bil tukaj začasno (As if I Were Here Temporarily), a collection of interviews with the director.
The Dodecalogy is a transgenerational documentary fiction that explores Nova Gorica and its unexpected connections to other cities, including Ljubljana, Timișoara, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Novi Sad. Across twelve performances, it weaves together a tapestry of life stories from the 1970s and 1980s. This theatrical journey delves into themes of borders, socio-political and ideological transformations, war, and the enduring threads of journeys and migrations. Above all, it is a tribute to the essence of theatre itself.
