Wilhelm Heiliger: Metafisica del Colore, mostra retrospettiva

The Nova Gorica City Gallery will exhibit the rich oeuvre of Slovenian artist Wilhelm Heiliger.

From September 5 to October 18, the Nova Gorica City Gallery will exhibit the rich oeuvre of Slovenian artist Wilhelm Heiliger.

The works on display covering the fields of painting, works on paper, photography and sculpture mark the developing trends of the artist’s artistic thought. The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive monograph that describes in detail all characteristics of Heiliger’s oeuvre and provides a valuable insight into the complexity of his artistic practice.

Born in 1944 in Ljutomer, Wilhelm Hieliger studied Slavic languages and literatures, philosophy and graphics in Ljubljana, Graz and London. He worked as a foreign correspondent for WDR Köln. In 1974, he moved to the USA where he worked as a researcher of Soviet relations and a translator. In the same year, he started his creative career by experimenting with different media and materials. Later on, he turned to analogue (and later digital) photography of abstract, geometric and architectural motifs. His work was exhibited in solo exhibitions in major world museums and galleries.
