Saša Dobričić, an architect from Rijeka, a professor at the University of Nova Gorica, and a researcher in the international Urbinat project, entered the green part (GO! GREEN) of the GO! 2025 programme. She studied architecture in Venice, and her first major project was the Molino Stucky complex at Giudecca, where she was confronted for the first time with the reuse of buildings and learned that it is necessary to study the context and adapt the project accordingly. During her PhD, she looked at the methodology of cartography as an epistemological model of thinking, she was interested in what a project is, what it means to think project-oriented. With a project, we simulate something because it already exists, but it doesn't have a concrete body yet. For example, we simulate the future based on an interpretation of the past and other givens. She thinks that our humanity is no longer capable of thinking like a project, we only use it to implement this or that idea. "That's why I like about the ECOC that it is a project work that is not limited by what it will muscularly establish, but how it will establish an intellectual, productive eco-system that will be long-term and dynamically evolving," she told us. She and Marco Acri, a professor and conservator, who is one of the initiators of the international Urbinat project, moved from Venice to Gorizia, work at the University of Nova Gorica, and represent a rare example of this kind of cross-border partnership or "project." "There is nothing more realistic in this Nova Gorica than utopia," she says. "The border is not a line, it is a zone, we will play with it, we will redefine it, we will reinterpret it, because Europeans understand the future by interpreting the past. History does not throw anything in the bin here."
