European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia introduces its own rose-flavoured biscuits!
Biškotične biscuits are based on the rich heritage of bourbons – unique roses associated with the French royal house of Bourbon. Nova Gorica is known for having one of the largest collections of these roses in Europe, and the symbolic connection with French history also stems from the fact that the last French king, Charles X, is buried in the Monastery of Kostanjevica. Biškotične, biscuits in the shape of a rose, which is also a symbol of the city, were developed in cooperation with the Brumat Bakery. With a long shelf life and refined taste, they are an excellent gift and an unforgettable souvenir when visiting the region. They are made from carefully selected local ingredients, including liqueur, syrup and pieces of freeze-dried roses.
The name Biškotične combines the words biscott (biscuit) and gospodična (miss) and symbolizes the tea party of noble ladies from the 19th century, who would enjoy delicate and elegant biscuits. Biscuits will be available in TIC Nova Gorica and TIC Ajdovščina, selected stores throughout Slovenia, and will also be offered in some bars, cafes and restaurants in Nova Gorica and the surrounding area.
